I was reading the comments on a random Facebook post – as one does – and the author of one comment suggested that it was not worth talking to ‘a sub 105’. By this he meant, I can only presume, someone with an IQ of less than 105. It seems to me an obvious injustice to reduce a person and their worth to a number, but I found this all the more objectionable because that number comes from an area of academic psychology of which I am deeply sceptical. The Australian Skepticsrun a monthly event in the pub where they get speakers on topics vaguely related to movement skepticism or that will at least be found interesting by their membership. A friend of mine is on the AS committee and I suggested to her a few months ago that I might want to give a talk. Get ready for a hot take— —two Greens senators have now resigned from office because they hold nominal citizenship of another country; New Zealand for Scott Ludlam and Canada for Larissa Waters. Some comments have focused on the incompetence of the party machine in not checking these things.
